Boorstin, Daniel Joseph
(1914-2004) Бурстин, Дэниел Джозеф
Историк, юрист. В 1944-69 - профессор Чикагского университета [Chicago, University of]. Автор более чем 20 трудов по истории США. В 1975-87 - директор Библиотеки Конгресса [Librarian of Congress], с 1987 - почетный директор. Наиболее известна его трилогия "Американцы: колониальный опыт" ["The Americans: The Colonial Experience"] (1959), "Американцы: национальный опыт" ["The Americans: The National Experience"] (1965), "Американцы: демократический опыт" ["The Americans: The Democratic Experience"] (1973), переведенная на многие языки, в том числе на русский. За последний том трилогии Бурстин удостоен Пулитцеровской премии [Pulitzer Prize] (1973). Позднее написал трилогию, посвященную всемирной истории: "Первооткрыватели" ["The Discoverers"] (1983), "Создатели" ["The Creators"] (1992), "Искатели" ["The Seekers"] (1998)
